Why Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is rooted in the belief that all people deserve to be paid a living wage for their work. It seeks to give more economic power to producers of goods, to promote more equal distribution of wealth, and encourage sustainable development. Goods certified as fair trade come with an assurance that the producers of those goods receive a living wage for their efforts, which in turn serves to improve the economic, social and environmental standards of their communities and countries. International goods that are fair trade certified by Fairtrade International carry a mark indicating this designation and fair trade certified goods within the United States carry a mark from Fair Trade USA.
